Underwater Airport is all about sound and spirit, so it is only appropriate that our first blog post should pay tribute to an amazing, long-running radio program on Boston's WGBH called Sound & Spirit.
Host Ellen Kushner masterfully weaves together music with cultural and historical insights, producing one delightful program after another. I recently was driving and listening to NPR (as usual) and heard some of her Gamelan program.

The Gamelan program has peaked my interest in the Canadian composer Colin McPhee, who traveled to Bali in the 1930s, and produced some fantastic music incorporating Gamelan sounds.
